A bit of background: I have an 18 year-old cream puff. The previous owner drove it only 43,000 miles in 15 years. It’s a 1998 Buick Park Avenue, the deluxe edition that comes with a self-leveling gas suspension. I noticed the shocks/struts seemed like they needed to be changed.
Before going to OK Tire, I did speak with other mechanics. One was gung-ho on using original GM parts. Both insisted that I should stay with the gas leveling system because “regular shocks just won’t support the car’s weight —- It will bottom out.” Which, in both cases, translated into a ridiculous repair bill for an old car.
I went to OK Tire, explained what I needed, repeated what I was told, and simply asked what they would propose. After all, my car is nice but its 18 years old!
The personable and attentive mechanic who inspected my car suggested a SPECIALTY shock absorber that comes in an assembly with a suspension spring. As a matter of fact, this specialty shock made by Monroe, was designed with heavy vehicles like my car in mind. It’s a brilliant alternative.
In conclusion, my experience with OK Tires was great! Two thumbs up! They proposed a safe, sensible, functional alternative. And, I am extremely pleased with their pricing.”
